nineteen natures mortes — inspired by ed ruscha

In the Nineteen Natures Mortes project, I find a quiet dialogue with Ed Ruscha’s iconic works. The objects I collect on my daily morning walks with our rescue dogs—pottery fragments, feathers, rubber bands—become miniature monuments, echoing Ruscha’s attention to the commonplace. These are not grand vistas but intimate fragments, a personal landscape that marries decay and persistence, the natural world and human detritus.
